About Chanderi

  • 40000 BC – Pre-historic rock paintings found in Nanaun, a hamlet in the hinterland of Chanderi.
  • 6th Century AD – A Hindu temple constructed during the Gupta Period found in the village of Behti, about 20 kms south east of Chanderi, which was probably a thoroughfare during the Gupta Empire, located on an important trade route.8 – 10th century AD – Gurjara Pratihara rule commences in Boodhi (Old) Chanderi.
