Legend associated with this festival claims that Lord Ram Chandra crossed Chanderi in the month of Phalgun during his thirteen year long vanavas and sanctified the land. To this affect, Rang Panchami is celebrated five days after holi in the month of Phalgun on a hill top at Karila.
इस त्योहार के साथ जुड़े पौराणिक कथा का दावा है कि भगवान रामचंद्र फाल्गुन के महीने में अपने तेरह साल लंबे वनवास के दौरान चंदेरी को पार कर इस भूमि को पवित्र किया। इसी कारण, रंग पंचमी होली के पांच दिनों के बाद करीला की एक पहाड़ी के शीर्ष पर फाल्गुन के महीने में मनाया जाता है।
The event of the son of the Prophet Mohammad’s uncle Ali’s death is commemorated with great reverence in Chanderi. Three life size Taziyahs are prepared for the ceremony namely Baadshah Ka Taziyah, Wazir Ka Taziyah and Banjari Tola.

Urs commemorates the glory of Hazrat Wajihuddin Yusuf, a Khalifa of the great Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya. In the reign of Allauddin Khilji, Hazrat Wajihuddin was ordered by Hazrat Nizamuddin to go and settle in Chanderi and work for the people there. He reached Chanderi in 1305, established his khanqah and soon gained thousands of followers.
उर्स, महान सूफी संत निजामुद्दीन औलिया के खलीफा हजरत वजीहुद्दीन यूसुफ की महिमा की स्मृति दिलाता है। अलाउद्दीन खिलजी के शासनकाल में, हज़रत वजीहुद्दीन को हजरत निजामुद्दीन द्वारा आदेश दिया गया था कि वो जाएँ और चंदेरी में बसें और वहाँ लोगों के लिए काम करें। वह सन् 1305 ई. में चंदेरी पहुँचे, अपना खानकाह स्थापित किया और जल्द ही हजारों उनके भक्त बन गये।
