About Chanderi

A particular hill at Chanderi, close to the Museum, has a profusion of herbs, both trees and plants, which have medicinal and other health benefits. Not confined to the hill, therapeutic plants also grow in the forest areas surrounding the town.

This is reflected in the medical habits of the population who still prefer Ayurvedic cure to modern allopathic medicines. People place a lot of trust in the vaids and ayurvedacharyas who have profound knowledge of the numerous herbs of the area and even beyond. They can prescribe a treatment for virtually every disease which heals the patient naturally without causing any side effects.

What follows is an extensive list of the herbs found and the ailments they treat according to a noted ayurvedacharya of Chanderi, Sh. Yogendrapal Singh Sengar.
